The Rhone Alps

They had some summer fun and down time in the Alps,
a few days with friends and a few days on their own.

Lake Geneva was too cold for her,
but the little guys braved it!
The weather was typically unpredictable ...
wet one day and sunny the next!
The cloud cleared enough for them to get a good view of Mont Blanc.
They journeyed on the tram to the end of the line ...
and walked as close as they could to the silvered glacier.
It boomed and cracked,
rock and ice constantly moving.
They did a favourite hike through the Cirque du Fer a Cheval ...
They celebrated their wedding anniversary
with a meal at a traditional Savoyard restaurant ...
and feasted on simple food from the local markets.
The bread was sooo good ...
The cheese stall was very popular ...
they waited patiently in the queue for their Reblechon and Comte!

Little man has no fear of heights ...
Watching the sun go down from the balcony ...
They love this place.

(Summer is a great time to visit -
it is out of season and the ski chalets are such good value!)

The Boot House Progresses ...

In Grandpa's shed,
the next Boot House is coming along slowly.
It has progressed from this ...
to this ...
There are floors ...
ladders ...
and bridges ...
It will be a home for the Blacksmith ...
His wife and family visit regularly to check on progress ...
They like the new settle and benches!
A pretty patchwork quilt will be made for their bed ...
There is a furniture and sundries store in Grandpa's shed too,
with plenty to choose from!

She ran to the top ...

... of Burrow Hill with her little man,
as a brutal rainstorm passed overhead.
It slapped and poked them,
but they laughed in it's face.
Sheltering under the lone tree,
they watched,
as moody clouds continued their onslaught,
leaking cold, wet, bad temper,
over the Somerset Levels.
As they ran back down the hill,
happy summer skies returned.

Hauser and Wirth ...

... on the outskirts of Bruton.
A great place to while away an hour or two.
Follow a gentle path from Bruton,
dancing with butterfly and bee.
Enjoy coffee and cake ...
in the cafe,
or outdoors under canopy ...
or a tipple from the well stocked bar!
Visit the gallery (closed for installation of new exhibition when we were there).
Walk in the gardens ...

Enter the alien space craft ...
It's actually an outdoor bar!
Open Tuesday-Sunday 10am-5pm (closed Monday)

Sometimes ...

she forgets who she is …

The humdrum takes over,
The focus shifts
She frets about time,
The things that really matter become lost,
In a whirring mass of ‘to do’s’ fogging her mind.

Then she sits down,
And writes a list of what makes her happy,
Just the little things ...

Warm, still, evening air,
A new visitor to her bird table,
Reading to her son.
A walk with her man,
Friends, who care.
The Damselfly that landed on her hand by the riverside.
Her little cat's contended purr.

And so much more …

Her soul catches up.
And she remembers ...

Retro Fundraising 2015 ...

... was a huge success!
An eclectic cavalcade of 270 vintage vehicles paraded through
the spectator lined main streets of Martock.
After a short circular trip through nearby villages,
the cars returned to Martock recreation ground
where there were vintage stalls, music, food and more.
From the teeniest bubble car,
to a huge Polish tank.
Minis galore ...
this customised one was a favourite!
Fab paint jobs ...
Very shiny engines!
Gorgeous tear drop caravans ...
Put the date in your diary for next year ...
Sunday 3rd July 2016!
